Stega Tisak Raises the Bar with a Near-New Heidelberg Eight-Color Press

13/01/2020

Zagreb-based Stega Tisak, one of Croatia's largest commercial print shops, has invested in a near-new Heidelberg SX 102-8-P sheetfed offset press sourced through allaoui — a machine with just 60 million impressions on its counter and a live demonstration that left little room for doubt.

Founded in 1992, Stega Tisak has grown into one of Croatia's most capable print operations, serving over 200 clients from its own premises in Zagreb's Zavrtnica business district. With a team of 60 specialists and a client roster spanning major brands including Porsche Croatia, Toyota, L'Oréal, Podravka, and the City of Zagreb, the company produces catalogues, magazines, brochures, books, and commercial print across a broad format range. Quality and technology investment are central to how Stega Tisak competes — and both were firmly in mind when the decision to add a new B1 press came around.

A test run on their own terms

Rather than take the press's performance on faith, Stega Tisak set a clear condition: they would bring their own special printing proof form and inspect the results under real production conditions. allaoui's print instructor accompanied the demonstration, running the Heidelberg SX 102-8-P at its maximum speed of 14,000 sheets per hour. The job was completed successfully, the output met expectations, and the decision followed quickly.

The machine itself made a strong case. With only 60 million impressions logged — modest by the standards of a press of this class — it was effectively as new. The eight-color configuration with perfecting capability gave Stega Tisak the versatility their job mix demands, while the integrated Heidelberg Prinect Inpress Control system, which handles inline color measurement and automatic regulation, addressed a specific operational priority: reducing paper waste during job changeovers.

The right machine at the right moment

The SX 102-8-P joins a pressroom already built around quality and flexibility. For Stega Tisak, the investment continues a long track record of equipping their facility with technology that can handle demanding work — from award-winning book productions to short-run luxury magazines and high-volume commercial print. The Prinect inline color system in particular positions the press for exactly the kind of mixed, fast-turnaround work that defines modern commercial printing.

For allaoui, the project is a straightforward example of what the company does well: sourcing a machine in near-new condition, presenting it transparently, and supporting the buyer's evaluation process — including a live demonstration — so the investment decision can be made with confidence.
