Barcode-controlled production for fully variable hardcover formats

The Cover-1 is a modular, semi-automatic system designed for efficient hardcover production, especially in environments where frequent format changes and short runs are common. Thanks to its integrated barcode workflow, every incoming cover can be produced in a different size without manual adjustments. As soon as the barcode is scanned, all relevant format parameters are transferred to the connected modules, which adapt themselves automatically for the next job. Depending on production needs, the system can be configured with various components to create a complete case-making line or used as individual standalone units.

Workflow Overview
1. Central Control: PowerTower
The PowerTower serves as the main control unit of the system. It reads the barcode printed on the cover sheet, interprets the format data and sends the necessary settings to each machine in the line. This ensures seamless changeovers and eliminates setup time between different formats.

2. Board Preparation: PräziTrim (Year: 2016)
Boards and spines are trimmed to the required size quickly and with high accuracy. This ensures consistent results for the subsequent case-making steps.

3. Soft Spine & Cover Sheet Preparation (Year: 2021)
PräziSpine: Processes thin greyboard rolls for flexible spines, ideal for round-back book production. Cutting is automatic and precise.
PräziSheet: Trims printed or laminated cover sheets based on a black trimming frame applied during printing. The sheet is automatically turned, trimmed on all sides and delivered to the rear. Operation is handled via an included tablet PC.

4. Gluing: PräziCoat Pro (Year: 2021)
The PräziCoat Pro applies hotmelt gelatine to the cover material using a 530 mm wide roller. Its automatic viscosity control (AVC) maintains stable adhesive quality during continuous operation, reducing operator involvement and ensuring reliable bonding.

5. Case Making - PräziCase Pro (Year: 2016)
The operator places the glued cover material on the work table and positions the boards by hand. All remaining steps—including optional corner cutting, turning-in of all four edges, and final pressing—are executed automatically, resulting in a clean, finished case.

Flexible System Configuration

All modules of the Cover-1 system can be combined according to individual production needs. Each machine is also available separately, allowing integration into existing workflows or gradual expansion as requirements grow.
